IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You have been doing some voluntary work to help your local community. However, now you are unable to continue doing this work.

Write a letter to the manager of the organization where you have been working. In your letter
>describe the work you have been doing
>explain why you can no longer do this work
> recommend another person who is interested in the work

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Mr. Adams,
I am writing this letter to regretfully inform you that I would not be able to continue with voluntary teaching work at your charity ‘Hope for Humanity’. I currently teach English to underprivileged children in a local night school managed by your charitable organization. Going forward, I would not be able to do so.

The reason for this is, I am relocating to New York City next week on a permanent basis. My parents stay there and of late they are not keeping well due to old age. Hence I have decided to move closer to take good care of them. As a result I would not be able to continue with my voluntary work.

Finally, I would like to recommend one of my colleagues for the teaching activity. Mr. Sam is well known to me and is actively involved in many charitable activities. He has expressed interest to volunteer and I believe he will be an excellent addition to your team.
