IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
New neighbours have recently moved into the house/flat next door to where you live. You have examinations soon, but your neighbours play music late at night which is affecting your studies and sleep.
Write a letter to your neighbors. In your letter:
- explain what the problem is
- why it is causing you difficulties
- what action you would like them to take
Write at least 150 words.
Model Answer:
Dear Mr Bhatnagar,
I would like to welcome you to our neighbourhood and hope that you will enjoy your stay. I write to raise a concern, which I would like you to address. I am pursuing my masters in business management and my final exams are knocking at the door. To prepare for the course, I need a quite place to study. Moreover, I require a sound sleep too. Due to the loud music which you play in the night, I am neither able to concentrate on my studies nor I am able to have a proper sleep. I request you to please try and listen to music at a low volume, and if possible shut the window, especially after 10 p.m. My exams would be over by 18th of this month and I would appreciate if you can consider my request till that date.
Looking forward to your kind cooperation.
Regards,
Abhishek Kumar
