IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
You have seen an advertisement in an English newspaper for a job working in a city museum shop during the holidays. You decide to apply for the job.
Write a letter to the director of the museum. In your letter:
- explain what experience and special skills you have
- explain why you are interested in the job
Write at least 150 words.
I am writing in response to the advertisement regarding a job vacancy for a museum shop assistant for this summer.
I am John Doe. I am currently pursuing masters in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota. I am looking for a summer job to support my tuition expenses. I live in downtown, two streets away from the museum. I like tutoring and socialising with people.
I believe that I am well-qualified for the job. I have two years of experience working as an attendant, the job responsibilities of which, very well aligned with the shop assistant role. Moreover, I have received an appraisal for my keenness from my supervisor. In addition, I would love to address the needs of museum visitors.
The main reason for my interest in the job is to gain local experience. I am well aware that employees value local experiences. This would be a great addition to my resume. The second reason is to gain internship credits that are part of my degree.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. If you feel that my skills and my experience match your recruitments, kindly contact me at 6513254676 or [email protected]
