IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
You play a team sport with some friends. Last week a member of the team had an accident and wasn’t able to play with you at the weekend. You decide to write to him in hospital, telling him about the match.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
- tell him which team won
- describe the conditions on the day
- say how you felt about the match
Write at least 150 words.
Model Answer:
Dear John,
I’m I am so sorry to hear about your accident! I’ve been down in the dumps since I heard about the mishap, and I do remember you in my prayers for your fast recovery.
Our team had a flying start in the football match on Saturday and until the last 10 minutes, we were leading by 1 point. However, to our surprise, they managed to score that extra goal to end the game in a draw, probably, because you weren’t there.
Atop, the weather conditions too were against us. The ground was really wet, making it difficult for us to execute our strategies. By the end of the game, we exhausted too much of energy as we were sliding on the wet ground.
Not only did we all have the time of our lives in the match but we also missed your presence in the ground.
I hope to meet you as soon as you are discharged from the hospital.
Best wishes,
Ben
