IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You have just spent a weekend at a friend's house. When you returned home, you discovered you have left a coat containing some belongings in his/her house. 

Write a letter to your friend telling him/her that you left the coat. In your letter:
- tell him/her what the coat looks like, where you think you left it, and what was in there 
- make some suggestions about how to get it back

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Mary, 

I hope you're doing great. We had a nice time together, and I still miss you. Unfortunately, I had found out that I had left my coat at your house.

My coat is a dark brown pakra with fur on the head cover. The brand is 'Eddie Bauer', and you can find a sticker on the left shoulder of the coat. Moreover, the coat also has a Pikachu keychain to the front zip. I believe that I left the coat in your backyard. Another place that I could think of is the wardrobe in my room. 

I am really worried because I put my passport and my student i.d in the coat. Without these documents, I would face a lot of trouble in my college and also while travelling. In addition to this, I also put my gold chain safely in one of the pockets.

One of my friends will be travelling to your place next week. I spoke to her and she said that she can collect it from your office. I have given her your phone number, and she will contact you. I would text her number to you as well.

I hope that you will find my coat. Please. Keep me updated.
