books borrowed from four village libraries

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 Words.

Model Answer:

The line graph gives information about the manuals borrowed from libraries located in four different places between June and September 2014 and the pie chart depicts the repartition of these manuals by categories during the same period.

Overall, the most striking fact to emerge from the graphs is  that the number of books borrowed from all the mentioned village libraries increased except for Ryeslip which showed the opposite trend. Moreover,  fiction made up the largest group of books borrowed.

In detail, books borrowed from Ryeslip and Sutton Wood libraries stood at 300 and 250  in June respectively. Following this, the number of books from Ryeslip witnessed a linear decrease finishing at approximately 180 books in September. At the same time, the figures for Sutton Wood fluctuated hitting the lowest point in August and then rising to 300 the following month. On the other hand, the number of books from West Eaton and Church Mont followed similar patterns. After starting at 50 books for both libraries in June, book rentals increased gradually finishing at 150 in September.

Concerning the repartition of these manuals by categories, fiction was the most popular among the five types with more than four out of ten fiction books borrowed over this time. Biography accounted for the second largest group with just less than a fifth. Self-help books were borrowed the least at just 10%.

The line graph represents the number of books borrowed from West Eaton, Rye Slip, Sutton Wood, Church Mount. It is interesting to note that, while the count dropped at Rye Slip, villages West Eaton and Church Mount surged up in the time frame.

In detail, while 300 books were borrowed at Rye Slip which was the highest among the four villages, it declined to around 170 books by September. On the other hand, West Eaton and Church Mount witnessed an upward trend starting off at just 50 books in July to 150 books during September. Meanwhile, however, Sutton Wood faced a dramatic dip of reaching a scale of 100 books in August, but it managed to reach a peak of 300 books thus overcoming its initial stage of 250 books.

Focussing on the genre of books borrowed,43% of votes have been casted for Fiction followed by Biography(19%). However,History(14%),Science(14%) and self-help(10%) sums up to a total of 38%.

It is clear that Fiction is the preferred type of books being rented. Also, except Rye Slip, the three villages have better rental rates.

    Good attempt.

You might want to improve your overview. You wrote the overview twice, once in the intro and again at the end. Try to combine both into a single paragraph and write it only once. It does not matter whether you write it in the intro or at the end. If you write the overview in the intro, start it with “Overall, … “. And if you write it in the end, use the phrase “In summary, …”

Other than that, there were some mistakes in word choices and grammar.
