The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.
Percentage of national consumer expenditure by category - 2002
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Model Answer:
The table compares proportions of consumer expenditure across various categories in five countries in 2002. It can be clearly seen that that all countries spend the most on food or drink or tobacco categories, while the least percentages of money were spent on leisure or education purposes. Among all countries, Turkey incurred the largest spending on all categories, while Sweden had the lowest recorded consumer spending figures for two out of three categories.
Consumer expenditure in 2002 on food, drinks and Tobacco was almost twice in Turkey and Ireland than in Italy, Spain and Sweden. In these five countries, percentages of consumer spending on clothing or footwear was highest in Italy at 9%. The rest of the countries had a similar spending level at around 5.4% to 6.6 %. Spending for leisure or education was the least favourite for all countries, with all countries recording percentages of spending of less than 5%.
