Model Answer:

It is commonly witnessed nowadays that a large number of companies manufacture their products in units which are established in other parts of the world rather than at the head office. This trend has brought several benefits for the common man. However, there may be some drawbacks too. In this essay, both the viewpoints will be discussed prior to arriving at an appropriate conclusion.

On the one hand, the expansion of branches of large organisations throughout the world has numerous benefits. Firstly, in many developing or underdeveloped nations, people have acquired employment with these conglomerates, and now lead a quality life. Prior to this, due to limited job opportunities, they were not able to make both ends meet as the authorities of many non-affluent nations were not able to establish sources of employment due to limited resources. Secondly, when international companies spread their branches across the globe, it gives rise to globalisation which contributes to the comprehensive development of all nations. Thus, this trend is advantageous for people and countries around the world.

However, the other side of the coin is that there are also some demerits of this phenomenon. One explicit drawback of the erection of manufacturing units in other countries is that monetary benefits of selling such commodities goes to the source nations while they use resources from other places. Consequently, it does not benefit the economy of the host country. Furthermore, there is a strong possibility that it will influence the culture of other countries. For example, McDonalds has its branches in almost every corner of the world; because of this, most people are consuming more fast-food these days because it is a popular brand. Thus, there are some detrimental impacts of the internationalisation of companies.

Having considered the pros and cons of producing goods in international units, it can be stated that this trend is more likely to continue in the future and its positive aspects assist the non-affluent countries. So, in my opinion its merits outweigh its demerits.
