IELTS AcademicSaudi Arabia
Exam Date 29th April

Dear Atul

Last Saturday, I gave my IELTS exam in Jeddah (academic). It was my first exam of this kind and a very short preparation of around 10 days. In the exam, I had some problems in few areas.

Listening: I was not acquainted with American accent and unfortunately it was American accent in listening, so I couldn't understand many things.

Reading: It was good for me. I finished it 3 minutes before.

Writing: Task 2 was OK. But, I could not finish Task 1 on time as I lost some time in visiting comfort room. As per your advise I did Task 2 before.

Task 1- Two line graphs both mentioning city A and city B from 2000 till 2020 (past to future). First graph had "Number of officers" on y-axis while second graph had crime rate in millions (values mostly around less than 1 million to 2 millions) on y-axis. Both graphs had same time period on x-axis.

Task2- Because computer can translate languages quickly and accurately, so learning foreign language is a waste of time. Agree/Disagree.

Speaking: I was bit embarrassed and some how managed it.
Cue Card topic- Describe one incident that made you laugh. When, where.. Why memorable?
Discussion about humour in life and society, benefits etc.

Thanks for all your support.

With regards
Dr Hassan Akhtar
