IELTS Writing Task 2 essay with model answer
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
"The most important thing about a job is how much money you earn in that job." Do you agree or disagree? Give you opinion on the above topic. You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Model Answer:
On the highly controversial issues today relates to whether the materialistic benefit of a job is more important than the value yield of that job. I strongly agree with the latter view due to several reasons that I will discuss in greater detail in this essay.
On one side of the argument, there are people who argue that the sale purpose of having a job is to ensure that one is able to provide a good life to one's family. The main reason for believing this is that many people are nowadays living in the cities, which is life characterized by fierce competition, and high materialistic demands. One good illustration of this is a study conducted in the United States that conducted that high pay was the most important reason to apply to a job among newly graduated students. Therefore, it is easy to see why this argument has gained support.
On the other hand, it is also possible to like the opposing case. It is often argued that the most important factor in any job is it's ability to deliver a value that can have positive impact on the community. People often have this opinion because, people have an innate drive to be useful to others, in order to be happy. A particularly good example here is the number of professionals working in the medical field who may not be well paid, but they continue to work and serve their earnestly. Thus, it goes without saying that this viewpoint is credible and realistic too.
The views that I have hitherto considered lead me to inevitable conclusion that, having a job delivers value and ethics is essentially more important than the one that offers great monetary value.
