The most important thing about a job is how much money you earn in that job.

Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Model Answer:

There has been an ongoing debate in the last few years about the most important indicator of a good profession. It is argued that monetary compensation is what people look at first, when they evaluate a job. I strongly disagree with this opinion as there  are more important indicators of an ideal job.

There are several qualities that are more important than salaries. One of the most essential one is safety. In fact, for many, roles and regulations available to protect employees are of high importance. In addition to this, work-seekers are usually reluctant  to choose a career that can potentially put their life at risk. One good illustration of this is that, although soldiers and law enforcement officers are well-paid in my country, these jobs are hard to fill. Thus, it goes without saying that   safety (the argument and example related to safety and life rather than losing a job) is more important than wages.

Moreover, another significant quality for an ideal job is job satisfaction. Since people spend the biggest part of their day  working, it is mandatory that they feel comfortable when they are at work. At present time, more and more workers are looking for professions with a friendly work environment that have many prospects of climbing the career ladder. For example, many of my friends have resigned from their jobs because it did not meet these criteria, despite having a good salary. Thus, there is no doubt that job satisfaction is paramount while apply for jobs.

Having considered a range of arguments, work environment and job satisfaction are the most important criteria for the vast majority of workers. It is hoped that these criteria will improve in the workplace in order to ameliorate employees’ productivity.
