Forests are the lungs of the earth. Destruction of the world's forests amounts to death of the world we currently know.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Model Answer:

In the past decades, voices have risen to warn about the disastrous effects of deforestation. It is argued that this phenomenon brings along serious threats to our world. I strongly agree with this opinion due to several reasons that I will discuss in greater detail in my essay.

First, considering that the main role of forests is to transform CO2 emissions into clean air, it is crystal clear how deforestation can have hazardous effects. In fact, the more forests we have, the cleaner is the air. A good illustration of this is that in some parts of my country, the number of pulmonary diseases such as asthma have increased exponentially after many trees were cut. Another environmental effect of deforestation is global warming. At present, each part of the globe is affected by the rise of temperatures. Based on some researches of the American environmental institute, one of the main reasons of global warming is the destruction of forests.

In addition to these impacts on the environment, the phenomenon also has numerous repercussions on other living species like animals and plants. Destroying their habitats, put their life at risk. Consequently, we have witnessed the extinction of many endangered animals such as some varieties of fox due to deforestation. As a result, the biodiversity of our world is affected significantly.

Having considered a wide range of arguments, I have drawn the conclusion that deforestation has a myriad of negative ramifications on the environment as well as on fauna and flora. It is hoped that actions are taken to stop this phenomenon in order to protect our world.
