Model Answer:

Many companies around the world are using animals for testing their products. While some people accept this practice, majority of them think that it is against the animal rights. This essay will throw some light on how animal testing can be justified in certain situations.

People argue that killing animals for any experimental procedure is an extremely cruel practice. Many companies, including a cosmetic brand 'the body shop', protest against animal testing. Furthermore, some NGOs are also working day and night to protect animal rights.

On the other hand, it can be clearly seen that although this practice is against animal rights, it is the need of the hour, especially in certain situations. For instance, many medicine companies test their drugs on rats before introducing them in the market for public use. Similarly, rabbits are used to demonstrate the effect of certain topical medicines. In addition, since the anatomy of frog's heart is quite similar to that of a human, they are used in medical colleges for teaching purposes. Hence, despite of the fact that animals are killed during these procedures, the whole process ultimately benefits the human beings. However, many other industries, like cosmetic industry which is not life saving, are just manipulating animals for their own good. Since they do not provide any major contribution towards society, they should not be allowed to do experiments on animals.

After considering the most pertinent points of this issue, I can clearly state that even though animals are being killed during some experiments, it is the requirement of the present time. Thus, justified and limited use of animal testing should be allowed, as long as it is in the favour of humanity.
