Sports provide a wide range platform to the children. They can develop enormous skills from sportsmanship. Some people argue that sports teach the youngone, to compete with others, whereas others believe that they learn to work as a team. In my opinion both attributes are essential to be successful in life. This essay will discuss about the importance of instilling these two skills in the children.

To commence with, there is a cut-throat competition in every field. Everyone has to prove their abilities and to perform better than others. If a child will acquire good marks in the class, he or she can get admission to their dream school for secondary education. Thus, feeling to compete with others arise by itself. For instance, in some schools or colleges the criteria of admission for new students is based on merit list. Students with highest marks can join these schools or colleges. A student with all other good virtues, but lagging behind others because of one mark can loose the chance for better education. So a spirit to win the competition can instill the feeling of hard work and persistence in the children.
On the other side of the coin, the children learn to cooperate and work as a team when they play team sports. By cooperating and good coordination among the team members can lead them to victory. They learn to help each other, which is one of the moral value of human being. For example, these days multi-national companies collaborate and work together, thus enhancing their business. Teachers can inculcates the spirit of teamwork in the students which can be helpful for them in their later life.

To recapitulate, competition and team-work are virtual values of a sportsman. These two virtual qualities help the person to achieve their goals in life.
