Model Answer:

Mother nature has gifted us with a diversity of animal species, varying in shapes, size and colors. Even though the majority remain in the wild, some are held captive in laboratories where the controversial practice of animal experimenting is taken place.

One of the most significant reason for teasing on animals is the potential health hazard it would otherwise have on humans. As monkeys and lab rats have a  98% identical DNA structure to ours, scientists can safely assume that the effects certain drugs will have on these specified animals will be similar to that in humans. Human causalities  will be recorded were newly developed drugs to be tried directly on people. In addition this would put research centers and pharmaceutical labs in jeopardy as a plethora of lawsuits are piled on them due to medical misconduct.

On the contrary there are those that advocate for animal rights. Us humans armed by our intelligence, dominate and dictate the existence of other animals. We are the solely decide whether animals are left untouched i their natural habitats, exhibited on zoos or tortured in laboratories for research purposes. Furthermore, the diverse human gene pool undermines  the effectiveness of medications. Some medicines will not reap the same benefits for everyone. A drug that cures one, may indeed kill the other. 32,000 such deaths were recorded in 2015 alone. Despite millions of dollars are invested into animal testing, the prescribed medicines will have varying success rates.

In conclusion, animal testing is a highly debated matter. I believe that even though it violates animal rights, medicines have to first be  tested on them before being  released to markets for human application.
