IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You and some of your friends ate a meal at a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, and you were very please with the food and service.

Write a letter to the restaurant manager. In your letter:
- give details of your visit to the restaurant
- explain the reason for the celebration
- say what was good about the food and the service

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Jane Doe. I recently had a dinner with my friends at your restaurant 'Anyan,' and I am writing to appreciate  extremely delicious food and wonderful service provided to us.

We came to the restaurant at around 7pm last Saturday. Knowing the restaurant is always busy during weekends, I had booked the table for five in advance. When we entered the restaurant, we were welcomed with a complimentary drink. It was my friend's 21st birthday, and we wanted to make that day very special for her. Although she is from Paris, she loves to eat Indian food. In Melbourne, the best place for Indian cuisine is undoubtedly 'Anyan' restaurant.

On that day, we had ordered 'spicy vegetables' with 'cheese garlic bread' in the main course, and 'gulabiamun' in the dessert. I must say each dish had an excellent flavour and sumptuous taste. Moreover, I won't forget the unbelievable service extended to us bu the staff. The food was served to us within 15 minutes after we had placed the order.

As we were extremely satisfied with the food and the service, we would love to visit your restaurant again.
