IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You have organized to go on holiday with your friend. However, you must change your plans.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:             

-Tell how much you are looking forward to the holiday.

-Explain why you must change your plan

-Suggest alternative arrangement.

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Tim,

I`m writing to let you know that I can't join you for our scheduled vacation to Fiji because of an urgent project that has come up.

I`m extremely sorry about my absence. You know how eager I am to escape from my business and have fun with you in this relaxing paradise. I have to postpone the exciting diving courses and the fantastic holiday week. What a pity!

The reason I must change our plan is that some critical errors have occurred in a database my team delivered to a bank. These would seriously impact its customers' security and in turn damage, its reputation in my team can`t provide an effective solution. This project is supposed to last for a fortnight. Therefore, I have to sacrifice my holiday.

Since most of our reservations are flexible to rebook. How about we delay the entire arrangement until next month? So that we won't miss any wonderful light spot as scheduled.
